Our main concern for all our Adoptables is to find "FOREVER HOMES" for each and every one of these amazing, lovable furballs!!
1st requirement: that a Pre-Adoption Application be filled out and returned to us so we can determine the kind of care, housing and especially, medical attention we can expect for our Adoptables!
Requirement #2: that an Adoption Contract be signed which states that our adoptable pigs will NOT BE USED FOR BREEDING, AS A FOOD SOURCE FOR OTHER ANIMALS OR FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION OR AS A LAB RESEARCH ANIMAL. It also outlines what we expect from you and what you can expect from us.
Requirement #3: that, even though a child might be the 'parent' of the adopted piggie, that the Pre-Adoption Application be filled out BY THE ADULT who has committed to take full responsibility of the piggie's care and well-being. There is definitely a lot involved in caring for a guinea pig; they do require a higher level of commitment and responsibility than your normal dog or cat. CLICK HERE to see just how much care is needed and how important parental involvement is.
We DO require our Potential Adopters come to our Rescue to meet our wonderful furballs! I cannot tell you the number of times an Adopter came with a specific Guinea Pig in mind only to leave with the one who knew the Adopter was 'their human'!!
We DO charge an Adoption Fee of $25.00 per Adoptable. There are several reasons including one very big one: to avoid our precious piggies being used as snake (or people) food. Other reasons are outlined in an article entitled So You Want to Adopt a Guinea Pig.
We DON'T ship any of our Adoptables! This can be very traumatic and stressful for a Guinea pig and could even result in the Guinea pig's death.
We DO require that you have completed setting up the entire habitat (including food dish, water bottle, hay rack) BEFORE bringing your new friend home. We do prefer that the habitat be either one built exclusively for Guinea pigs by 'Our Daddy's Creations' or of cube & coroplast (C&C) construction. Pet stores cages are not recommended as they are way too small for even one Guinea pig!
We DO insist that NO CEDAR BEDDING be used in any part of the habitat, that your guinea pig's habitat not be AN AQUARIUM OR HAVE A WIRE FLOOR, that NO PART OF HIS/HER WATER BOTTLE BE CONSTRUCTED WITH GLASS and that HE/SHE WILL RECEIVE PELLETS MANUFACTURED EXCLUSIVELY FOR GUINEA PIGS.
